Top Picks for Night Time Skin Care

March 30, 2017

Confession. I struggled with breakouts my whole life. Not crazy bad acne, but enough to be embarrassing and annoying. I tried seeing a couple dermatologists (terrible experiences) and adjusting my mostly vegetarian and mostly GF diet (nothing happened). When I got into my 30s I'd had enough and decided to go on a journey to find products that would help me get clear skin.

Here are my 6 favourites for night time skin care. Everyone's skin is different, so do what's best for you. This is NOT a sponsored post. I just wish my 18 year old self knew about these products, so my 35 year old self is sharing them with anyone who's interested.

 DAILY

Every single day I wash my face before bed. This Philosophy Purity Made Simple is by far the best face cleanser I've found. And I've tried so so many. This one isn't much of a secret since I know a lot of people use this. It goes on MEGA sale once a year at Sephora before Christmas and I stock up and buy 3 or 4 of the large ones to last me all year. Winning.

Newest addition to my routine and current obsession is Sunday Riley's Good Genes All-in-One Lactic Acid Treatment. I use this pretty much every night. It's crazy expensive but it clears and tightens up my skin and makes it feel amazing. A little goes a long way.

I try to remember to put on lip balm every night before bed. It's winter here in Canada a million months of the year and lips get DRY. I alternate between a few but the FRESH Sugar Advance Therapy Lip Treatment is my favourite. I also use the BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask tube but it's really heavy and sticky. BITE just came out with an everyday formula with smooth black case that I'm dying to try.

 COUPLE TIMES A WEEK

Night oils are everywhere lately but I've been so skeptical. I kept avoiding them because I don't like that oily feel on my face. But for one of Sephora's twice annual sales last year I splurged and now I LOVE it. Okay, I still don't like the oily feeling but the Sunday Riley Luna Oil disappears pretty quickly and you only need a couple drops. I noticed a difference on my skin in a couple days. Voodoo magic I tell you.

Oh! And Sephora sells this it a Power Couple package with the Night Oil and Good Genes treatment and it's way worth the deal! I find I go through the Good Genes quicker than the Luna Oil.

I started experimenting with face peels about a two years ago and the results are significant. Fine lines are reduced, only acne scars fade and I end up with a more even skin tone. My go to is the Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta® Peel Extra Strength Daily Peel and I do it once or twice a week. Just remember to wait a couple minutes between the first and second steps.

 ONCE A WEEK

Once a week I do a mud mask to clear out my pores and reset for the week. All the GlamGlow products are amazing, but my skin reacts to some of them (the orange bottle made me look CRAY). The white bottle (GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment) works great and really helps keep acne away. Sometimes if I'm getting a break out I'll just dab some on as a spot treatment.

These 6 products made a huge difference for my skin. This is not an ad. It is not a sponsored post. My journey for clear skin led me through a TON of product and I've fallen in love with these ones for my night time routine.

Always love your comments!! Is this is helpful (or not)? Should do a post for my morning routine? Make up routine?

XO,
